COVID-19

Dear Catalan Adventures Customers (see latest updates below)

We’d like to start by thanking everyone for your messages of positivity and support as we all try to navigate our way through this unprecedented and challenging time, both in our work and our homelives.

As a small family run business that works alongside many small locally-run accommodations and partners, we are truly grateful for the ongoing encouragement and support we are receiving. Once this period of difficulty passes, we look forward to continuing to support you in your walking and cycling endeavours and exploring our wonderful natural world.

We were lucky enough to welcome some European customers last summer, however most of our customers re-booked for Autumn 2021 and some for 2022, which was fantastic.

With regards to a vaccine, the vaccinations role out started here back in December with around 85% of the most vulnerable now vaccinated. Spain has the infrastructure to speed the roll out up, however there has been a delay in the delivery of doses. This should change later this month.

Spain has said it hopes to allow tourists back from April, let’s hope this comes to fruition and it’s safe to do so.

In the meantime, we hope that you all remain safe and in good health during this challenging time.

With our best regards

Steve & Maria Clifford and the Catalan Adventures Team

Update: 27 April 2021

Well the vaccination role out is at last picking up the pace, we are still on target of vaccinating 70% of the population by the summer and are now opening up mass vaccination centres throughout the region. Also some great news today, Catalonia has launched a campaign to win back vaccinated US and Canadian tourists with a “Green Passport” They hope the passport scheme will be up and running by the start of June at the very latest and I’m sure this passport will be available to anyone worldwide who has been vaccinated.  Great news for the region and will be amazing for us to start to slowly welcome back our customers again 🙂

Update: 26 July 2021

Great new, Spain has hit its July vaccination target and is definitely now on track on fully vaccinating 70% of the population by the middle of August. The state of alarm ended on the 21 May and we are seeing lots more tourists arriving day by day. We’re half way through the summer holiday season and the hotels, bars and restaurants seem to be busy once again. We have many customers booked in for September and October however we have seen an explosion in bookings for next year, especially customers from the US. We are very happy with that as it was unexpected, we thought most would wait until the end of the year, I guess people are fed up and just want to start to organise their holidays/vacations now 🙂

Update: 23 September 2021

Well, it’s been a while since our last update, we’ve been pretty busy this month with our customers who have final returned. Of course, we’re still down on numbers from 2019, however every day we see improvements so we are very happy. Funnily enough we seem to be getting mostly customers from the US (many of which are aged 70+) arriving at the moment and yet our customers from the UK still seem a little reluctant to visit, however I think that will change now the UK has a simpler travel system and the threat of moving to the red list isn’t hanging over you. Plus, I think some might be fed up they stayed at home to help the economy whilst many in the government went abroad this summer 🙂 Any way things are looking really good, nearly all the restrictions have been dropped, apart from mask in shops etc and we’ve seen the lowest new cases rate per 100k people in the past two weeks, the lowest in over a year. Most adults have been vaccinated now and we’re currently vaccinating 12- to 15-year-olds. It finally feels like we’re coming to the end of this, let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Update: 23 February 2022

Well, it’s been a while again since our last update. We had a great Autumn season last year, again mostly customers from the US, so we were very happy. Our season  started early this year with a lovely couple from Boulder Colorado and now March onwards looks like it’s going to be really busy, I can’t tell you how much this is a relief to us, we even have some bookings from New Zealand and Australia now 🙂 Canada is now opening up from the 28 February and we’ve already seen an increase in enquires over the last few days from there. I guess that’s all for now, thanks again for all the support we’ve received from customers and friends, we are now looking forward to a wonderful 2022!!!
