Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive at Girona Airport or Figueres Train Station where you
will be transferred to your accommodation in Castello D’Empuries. Castelló has retained its quiet charm and even in tourist season one can still enjoy peace and contemplation. Castelló began to flourish in the 11th century and rose to become an important economic centre. The counts of Empúries made it their residence and 7 Monasteries can be found in the area around the town. The landmark of the small town, visible from afar, is the Parish Church Santa Maria which is often called the “cathedral of the Empordà” because of its size and gothic influence architecture.
Accommodation: Guest House, B&B, Castello D’Empuries Located in the heart of the town, built on the ruins of the former home of the Count of Castello, each of the uniquely designed rooms are fitted with fully reversible air conditioning and all have en-suite bathrooms, they offer lovely views of the village.
Day 2: Today you will go sea-kayaking, you will journey along the
rugged Catalan coast, you will sea-kayak along hidden sandy coves and into spectacular sea caves, all the while enjoying the warm waters of the sparking turquoise sea. This is a fantastic way to enjoy the spectacular coastal scenery and the only way to see some of the most remote and inaccessible parts.
Day 3: Morning: In the morning you will go horse riding through the Aiguamolls d`Empordà nature park, at any time of the year you
are likely to spot birds such as Ibis, Herons,Ttufted Ducks, Pochards, Snipes, Redshanks, Marsh Harriers and Sandpipers, but if you are lucky you can make some exciting sightings during the spring and autumn migrations: Grey Herons, Golden Plovers, Flamingos, Black Storks and Spoonbills.
Day 3: Afternoon: In the afternoon you will take a Quad Bike tour; you will travel off-road through the stunning Catalan countryside. This area of natural beauty with its extensive orchards and open plains in the centre of the Emporda Wetlands is a maze of country paths and lanes.
Day 4: Today you will spend the day at the adventure lake in Llac de l’Aventura, taking part in the following activities, Archery, River
Activities with Upseiling, Kayaking, Climbing and Mountain Biking.
Day 5: Free Day: Perhaps a day on the beach, a visit to Dali’s house
in Cadaqués or the Dali museum in Figueres, a visit to the Monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes or just a lazy day around the village would be in order. Or perhaps something more adventures, like a tandem skydive or a hot air balloon flight.
Day 6: Today we will travel to the mountain resort of Vall de Núria, at 2000 meters it has a unique wealth of nature and landscape. It sits above one of the highest points of the Ribes Valley
and is surrounded by peaks of almost 3,000 metres, from which flow a multitude of water sources and torrents. You will take the rack railway up through this spectacular mountain landscape; the railway covers a distance of 12.5 km and takes you up an incline of over 1000 metres. You will then descend on foot through the valley, this is an incredibly beautiful route and the best thing is it’s all downhill.
Day 7: Today you will go canyoning, you will travel to the The Gorges du Anelles in the French Pyreness, it is a beautiful, steep and atmospheric canyon. The gorge is full of fun with many high jumps
and abseils; it’s the perfect canyon for those new to canyoning.
Day 8: Pick up and transfer to Girona airport or Figueres Train Station.
Note: Although very unlikely there is always the possibility we may have to change the order of the itinerary due to bad weather conditions.
